There is no better time than the present to be a part of the
progression of Virginia's innovation economy. To further this goal,
NCTC and Virginia Tech and are hosting
the third-annual Virginia's Technology Capital Access Forum (VTCAF).
The objective of this forum is to advance Virginia's innovation economy
by putting technology and innovation entrepreneurs statewide in touch
with capital providers from Virginia and the entire Mid-Atlantic Region.
VTCAF is an annual, super-regional event that is geared to attract
technology companies and capital providers here on a recurring basis.
Last year's VTCAF keynote speaker was Jeff Taylor, the founder of
Monster.com, a company that represents the quintessential story of how
an idea can transform an entire industry. The opening dinner was
attended by more than 250 business leaders. Thirty-nine companies
competed for ten available presentation slots on the second day of the
forum. More than 35 representatives from 20 capital providers, ranging
from institutional venture capital firms to private equity funds to
angel investors to banks, attended. A conservative estimate of the
institutional venture capital represented at the 2004 forum exceeds 3
billion dollars. We expect this year's event to be even bigger and
better.
This year's event will capitalize on the success of prior years and
re-cast the VTCAF mold at the same time. Starting on October 10th with
the always-energetic NCTC Fall Gala Dinner and Networking reception, we
will once again feature a nationally recognized keynote speaker. At the
networking reception, browse exhibits from presenting companies as well
as some of Virginia Tech's most promising research centers. Day two will
kick off with a continental breakfast, followed by a capital provider
panel discussion, business model/investor pitches and lunch with a
recognized speaker. The day will conclude with a dessert networking
mixer.
